One Room Challenge Week 1 – Spring 2023

For this season’s One Room Challenge I am renovating my daughter’s bedroom, taking it from a builder basic room to a curated space fit for a pink loving pre-teen!

There is absolutely no demo needed in this space and I’m thrilled about that. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a walk in the park! Let’s take a look at the mood board for the space then get into the nitty gritty of the long to-do list.

We researched and sourced and discussed the plan for this room for a couple months. My daughter and I finally came to some compromises and decided on exactly what we wanted this room to become. She wanted a room that was all pink, including all the furniture, so we negotiated down to pink walls and wallpaper with lots of pink in it.

To do

There are so many diys going into this room. Let’s write it all out to keep me accountable!

  • Built in window seat
  • Channel tufted headboard and bed frame
  • Picture frame moulding with ornate corners
  • First time EVER hangin wallpaper (cue nervous laugh)
  • Hanging planters made of LOL doll containers
  • Picture rail moulding around the perimeter of the room

Design Decisions

Two things I’m still trying to decide on are

  1. Should I stain or paint the window seat?
  2. Will I leave the baseboards and door trim the existing white, or go for a monochromatic look and paint it pink like the walls?
